Action/Adventure presents: Late Night Action. Late Night Action is a new, live, talk show, with local guests, bands and comics. LNA, hosted and written by local funny people, will feature a different local superstar celebrity, band and comic every night. Late Night Action is here to help you remember why your hometown fucking rules.
Our opening weekend features a comedian so big he was dubbed “Portland’s Funniest Person” by Helium Comedy Club. He’s been on Portlandia and he even has his own “corner” as a regular contributor to “Talkin’ Ball” on Comcast SportsNet Northwest. It’s Portland’s comedy darling: Ian Karmel. Our next guest offers, “Solid beats, with thumping electronic head-nodders paying homage to everything from Timbaland to Tribe to Beck and samples ranging from Dr. John to the NES classic Bomberman. The flows are liquid and the subjects are asinine. Thuggage is on target.” (Willamette Week) We couldn’t agree more. Our celebrity guest is the editor in chief of the Portland Mercury, as well as the non-award winning author of the nationally syndicated column I Love Television™. He also occasionally does “theatrical” things such as performing in Road House: The Play, Trek in the Park, Action/Adventure’s Captured by Aliens, and throwing a fit in the employee breakroom whenever anyone overfills the coffee maker: Steven Humphrey!
Our Saturday show features an up and coming native Portland comic, whose light-hearted, absurdity, is sharp and personal; the infinitely likeable: Anthony Lopez. Fresh off the release of their new record: Kool, listen to the “electrified party bangers” of Serious Business. Our celebrity guest has to be one of the most energized and creative minds of Portland. He is the late co-owner of the all-ages punk venue, The X-Ray cafe, formerly located in downtown Portland. He ran for mayor in 1994 and is a full generation Portland guy; official keeping it weird as co-owner of the World Famous Voodoo Doughnut. He also hosts Karaoke From Hell at Dantes every Monday night. The notorious Tres Shannon!
Late Night Action is hosted by Helium and Bridgetown Comedy Festival comic, ComedySportz veteran, Host of Read it and Weep podcast and Action/Adventure ally Alex Falcone. Alex’s breezy crowd work and quick wit is supported by a dynamic group of professionals from all over the Portland comedy scene. Alex is joined by sidekick: Bri Pruett (Curious Comedy, Fall of the House, Bridgetown Comedy Fest), sketch team: Brad Fortier (Brody Theater, published author, international improv teacher), Andrew Michaan (co-founder Comedy is OK), Craig McCarty (ComedySportz, Curious Comedy), and Writer: Bill Evans (ComedySportz, Curious Comedy).
